G3 was a standard factory upgrade of the earlier Panzer IV Ausf. F2, con 80 mm of frontal armour, e the 7.5 cm L.48 Kampfwagenkanone KwK 39 tank gun. Because of its improved frontal armour, Panzer IV Ausf. G3 was nose-heavy. The suspension bogie wheels had been redesigned to correct this problem, but the vehicle still tilted forward noticeably.
